Editing your website may not be as difficult as you think; if you can edit a Word document then you have the skills necessary to edit your website. Using the skills of a professional web designer can become quite expensive. If all your website requires are some basic changes to the text or images currently present you can make the necessary edits yourself using a word processing program such as Microsoft Word or Works.

Many word processing programs that are currently available operate in the same way. In order to edit your website, you need to have a copy of the website or HTML file saved to your computer. Once you have located the file on your computer, your next step will be to open the word processing program you will be using and then open the website file. Now you will need to choose the text or image that you would like to edit and proceed to make any necessary changes just as you would when working with a word document.

The guidelines for performing any editing using a word processing program are carried out in much the same way as any other document is edited with two exceptions. The first being that all images must be saved without the use of any spaces, the presence of spaces in image titles are not recognized by all web browsers.
