But there are plenty of ways to find clients as a freelancer—and no matter what type of work you offer (web design, logo design), your job search will be much easier if you approach it strategically.
Do a search for design firms in your area.
One way to find local design firms is by doing a search for graphic design studios in your area. You can use Google, Bing and other search engines to find them.
You can also check out the websites of local businesses that seem like they might need your services, such as an accounting firm or marketing agency. Look for job postings on Craigslist and other sites that list jobs in graphic design fields–this will give you some ideas about where companies are hiring designers and what kind of projects they’re working on right now.
Connect with graphic design studios on social media; this will give you an idea of how many freelancers work there, what kinds of skills they have (and whether yours match), how much money they make per hour/week/month etc., etc., so that when it comes time later down the line (when we get into finding clients) then this information will be useful when making decisions about where exactly one wants their career path going forward towards achieving goals like financial independence
Browse the websites of local businesses.
Look for local businesses that are likely to need design work. If you live in a city, there are probably many small businesses around you.
